Lieuwen elicits some striking colors and effects from this mixed-instrument scoring which are made even more notable by enhake’s careful attention. This is music that is not easily absorbed with one or two hearings, but reveals its structure and expressiveness with greater familiarity. It provides challenges for the listener and performers, and is worth the effort."
