NAMBÉ for Orchestra (2023)

Pannon Philharmonic
Nambé musically depicts the rugged beauty of the soaring mountains juxtaposed with the pastoral aura of the rivers and streams, high desert plateaus, and deep valleys of northern New Mexico. Turbulence, tranquility, darkness, and light are created through expressionist and impressionist harmonies, vibrant rhythms, and a variety of textures in a tonal/modal setting.
Nambé is the Spanish version of a similar-sounding Tewa word, which can be interpreted loosely as meaning "rounded earth." The Pueblo of Nambé has existed since the 14th century and is a member of the Eight Northern Pueblos of New Mexico.
